Azure devops test plans

DevOps

Azure devops test plans offer robust and effective tools that promote quality and teamwork throughout the development process. Browser-based test management tool offers all that is needed for UI/UX, exploratory testing, manual testing, azure devops automation testing, and getting input from stakeholders, collectively called azure devops testing.

The following objectives are supported by Azure devops test plans using a combination of browser-based tools (Test plans, Progress report, Parameters, Configurations, Runs, and azure devops testing tools):

Manual and exploratory testing:

This type of testing entails the following test procedures: Manual, user acceptance & exploratory testing.

Azure devops test plans uses work item categories unique to azure devops testing to plan and author tests, supporting both exploratory and manual testing. It also offers azure devops test management to facilitate the execution of tests. The resources needed to effectively build and manage test items, their settings, and configurations are available through the test plans, Parameters, and Configurations hubs. Test suites can be static to help you cover regression tests or dynamic (requirements-based and query-based) to help you evaluate the quality of related requirements under development.

The Test Plans Hub is where you generate and oversee test plans and test suites. To the test plans, include one or more static, requirement-based, or query-based test suites. So test suites and plans can be exported and shared with your teams. See Create test plans and test suites and Copy or clone test plans, test cases, and test suites for instructions on how to do this.

Azure devops automation testing:

To support testing in continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) environments, Azure Test Plans and Azure Pipelines are completely linked. Build or release pipelines may be linked to test plans and test cases. To record and publish test results, pipeline jobs can be added to pipeline definitions. Test results can be evaluated through pipeline test reports and built-in progress reports, a part of azure devops test management.

Traceability, reporting & analysis:

End-to-end traceability is supported through test cases and test suites related to user stories, features, or requirements. To track the quality of requirements, tests and defects are automatically linked to the builds and requirements that are being tested. Users can define test plans and test suites in the test planning hub for larger teams. They can also add and execute tests directly from the Kanban board. So tracking requirements testing is made possible by pipeline results and the requirements widget.

Azure Test Plans includes dashboard widgets, test data saved in the analytics service, many integrated pipeline test reports, test tracking charts, a test runs hub, and dashboard widgets to facilitate reporting and analysis.

Users’ access levels control the aspects of the azure devops test management portal they can access. As stated in About access levels, the three primary access levels are Stakeholder, Basic, and Basic+Test plans. The access level needed to perform the related tasks with Azure Test Plans is shown in the following table. Apart from access levels, certain functionality need permissions in order to function.

Key benefits

Software development teams can benefit from Azure Test Plans in the following ways. It is platform agnostic, performs comprehensive diagnostic data gathering, end-to-end tracking, azure devops automation testing, combined analytics and an extensible platform.
