Challenge:

Financial reports were delayed due to long running jobs and failed reports.

What We Did:

The Motivity Labs team worked closely with the client to understand the impact of the long running jobs and the following steps were undertaken

Step 1: Our Database Administrator team reviewed multiple backups and restores of the databases to ensure that they were successfully executed before jobs depending upon the database started

Step 2: In case of a delay, the DBA team analysed the RCAs for the delay and fixed the issues from the server and database end for smooth execution of the jobs.

Step 3: The Production support team monitored and troubleshooted the crucial jobs which were generating the reports to the business and made sure they completed within the SLA’s.

Step 4: Our team took constant feedback from the client about the requirements and did the changes accordingly.

Step 5: Our team focused more on the customer point of view and tried to match their requirements by fine tuning the jobs by rescheduling, changing connection strings to reduce the load on the servers and fine tuning the SQL code of the long running jobs and reports and debugging the SSIS packages to identify the delay.

Step 6: Our team also automated the 10 AM daily run log reports and hourly job status reports as per client’s requirement apart from the support work, they also handled additional tasks such as processing of Kohn/Thomason Legal fees into ADS toolbox and Monitoring Power BI reports and jobs in Azure cloud.

Success achieved:

Motivity Labs was able to accomplish 100 % successful execution of the job without any failures and the client was pleased with the end results. The jobs are completed within the SLA and the reports are being delivered on time. And by doing so we made sure every minute counts!
